FRET involves the transfer of energy from an excited donor fluorophore to an adjacent acceptor fluorophore.
We use CFP and YFP, two color variants of GFP, as donor and acceptor. Two proteins are tagged as described
elsewhere. We measure fluorescence by microscopy and define the CFP and YFP channels as the standard filter combinations used for visualization.
